80201: No Available Voice Proxy

WARNING: 80201

warning-80201 page anchor
PROXY
WARNING

This warning means your Proxy Service could not automatically assign a proxy number with voice capability to the Participant. It usually occurs when the Session mode includes voice, but the Service's phone number pool does not contain an available number that supports voice. If you do not set mode, this can also happen in countries where the same number cannot support both voice and SMS.

Possible causes

  • Your Service does not have any phone numbers in its pool with voice capability.
  • The Session mode requires voice, such as voice-only or voice-and-message, but the available proxy numbers only support messaging.
  • You did not set mode, and the Participant is in a country where combined voice and SMS capability is not available on the same number.
  • The only voice-capable numbers in the pool are marked as reserved, so Proxy will not choose them automatically.
  • Add one or more Twilio phone numbers with voice capability to the Proxy Service's phone number pool. Check the number's capabilities before you add it.
  • Set the Session mode explicitly to match the communication you need. Use voice-only for calls, message-only for SMS, or voice-and-message only when your pool supports both channels.
  • In countries where one number does not support both voice and SMS, add separate voice-capable and messaging-capable numbers to the pool so Proxy can assign the right number for each Session.
  • If you need to use a reserved voice-capable number, create the Participant with proxyIdentifier or proxyIdentifierSid instead of relying on automatic selection.
