Alphanumeric sender ID
Request an alphanumeric sender ID to send one-way SMS messages from a personalized sender name (such as your business or brand name) instead of a phone number. This is commonly used for notifications and alerts, where recipients see your brand name as the sender ID and can easily identify the source of the message.
Sender IDs are not available in the United States or in Canada. To find out if they are offered in your country, see International support for Alphanumeric Sender ID.
Alphanumeric sender IDs must meet the following requirements:
- Send messages only to supported countries.
- Register the sender ID when required.
- Limit the sender ID to 11 characters.
- Use uppercase and lowercase ASCII letters, digits (0–9), and spaces.
- Include at least one alphabetic character; the sender ID can't consist of numbers only.
Add an alphanumeric sender ID to a Messaging Service. For SMS messages sent to a supported country, the Messaging Service sets your alphanumeric sender ID as the From parameter. If the destination country doesn't support alphanumeric sender IDs, Twilio uses a phone number from the Messaging Service instead.
