Optimizely Feature Experimentation (Actions) Destination in General Availability
Segment's destination for Optimizely allows customers to send Segment profile data into Optimizely to power testing and experimentation.
This upgrade brings the destination into the Actions Framework and connects to the latest Optimizely SDK, providing improved performance, security, and implementation.
For more information, see the Optimizely Feature Experimentation (Actions) Destination Documentation.
Redshift Supported as Linked Audience Warehouse Source - Public Beta
Linked Audiences empowers marketers to effortlessly create targeted audiences by combining behavioral data from the Segment Profile and warehouse entity data within a self-serve, no-code interface. With this public beta release, the Data Graph now supports Redshift as a warehouse source.
Journey Archive General Availability
Journey Archive helps marketers end Journeys while preserving historical data. Archiving a Journey stops all Journey calculations and prevents users from entering or progressing through the Journey. Segment retains all of the Journey's data, though, letting you view its historical performance while freeing up compute credits.
Learn more in the Build a Journey documentation.
Reverse ETL Public Beta
Reverse ETL is available as a public beta offering.
This feature makes it simple to activate data from a warehouse and load it into downstream destinations. Bringing the power of the CDP and the data warehouse together empowers core business teams with valuable customer data so that they can focus on driving business value, such as optimizing customer acquisition, increasing lifetime value, and so much more.
For more information, see the Reverse ETL documentation.
Profiles Sync Public Beta
Profiles Sync is available as a public beta offering.
This feature makes Twilio Segment's identity-resolved customer profiles portable. Data teams can now access ready-to-query models and data sets, within the warehouse of their choice, to enrich customer profiles in the warehouse according to business needs.
Profiles Sync enables data teams to focus on creating valuable audiences in the data warehouse that power personalized customer experiences.
For more information, see the Profiles Sync documentation.
Profiles Sync Materialized View Tables Public Beta
Segment's goal is to help customers get the full value from the Profiles Sync product by building materialized views in Segment and syncing them to the customer data warehouse.
Segment is adding three materialized view tables on top of the existing raw tables synced with Profiles Sync.
To learn more about these materialized view tables, visit the Profiles Sync docs.
Snapchat Conversions API Destination General Availability
The Snapchat Conversions API destination, built on Destination Actions, is now in General Availability.
With this destination, customers can pass web, app, and offline events from Segment directly to Snap. Events are sent server-side and can be used to measure campaign performance and incrementality.
For more information, see the Snapchat Conversions API (Actions) documentation.
BigQuery Shared Service Account End of Life
For early customers using BigQuery with Segment, rather than providing Segment with credentials, access was granted to a shared service account (connector@segment-1119.iam.gserviceaccount.com). While convenient for early adopters, this presented potential security risks.
In March 2019, Segment upgraded the BigQuery warehouse destination to improve its security. The upgrade involved moving from using Segment’s shared service account to each customer creating their own service account for Segment.
Today, Segment is moving the BigQuery shared service accounts into End of Life. This means that:
- All shared service accounts have been deactivated.
- You will see an in-app banner on your old shared service account with instructions to create a new service account. You will then need to head to your warehouse’s connection settings and update with the credentials you created.
For more information see the BigQuery Destination page.
Typewriter Version 8 General Availability
Typewriter Version 8 is available to all users that have access to Protocols. This feature adds support for Analytics-Swift, Analytics-Kotlin and Analytics-React-Native.
There are also new options for generating classes and types (but no client codes), support for customizable prefixes and suffixes for both types and functions, and support for generating multiple tracking plans on a single client.
For more information, see the Typewriter documentation or GitHub repository.
